One of Our Busiest Times of Year
1/12/07 at 4:36:01 PM

— Julie Ann Edin, Community Coordinator
Psychological Sciences Student Community

A bit overdue but very welcome none-the-less, since our last newsletter Jill Adams delivered a baby boy, Caiden Neil Adams, on December 22, 2006. Congratulations!

William Solheim waited for his grown-up daughter — away at school in Colorado — to navigate the delays of the snowed-in Denver airport to arrive home for the holidays.

Back at the office there was very little student traffic in the office the last week of December — that was fine since not many advisers were in either. As with all advising offices, this is one of our busiest times of year with many deadlines to meet for degree clearance and probation review to be conducted, along with review of course work for incoming transfer students prior to orientation. Kathie Peterson got an intensive initiation to the probation review process. She and I conducted the bulk of the review with the able support of peer adviser Lesley Babb who was here as well, printing out records and pulling files for us. Today we will see if we get any suspend appeals.

This degree clearance period is relatively manageable for us with approximately 150 candidates to review. As usual though, for orientation we get 16-20 transfer students on most days. Uh-oh, we just got three additional students for today's orientation! So, that will be all for this newsletter entry.
