Gatherings Abound 3/20/08 at 4:09:09 PM
—Maryanne Williams, Regional Academic Adviser American Indian Studies Department and Chicano Studies Department
Faculty, staff, and students in the Department of American Indian Studies and the Department of Chicano Studies have been holding events, planning new events, and—in Chicano Studies—seeing a new face. We’d like to welcome Rodrigo Sanchez-Chavaria as the principal administrative specialist for American Indian Studies and Chicano
Studies.
We also have a role change; Miguel Vargas, the former principal office and administrative specialist, moved into a new role as the community outreach coordinator.
During the first week in April, both departments will be having gatherings for students, staff, and faculty. The Department of American Indian Studies will be holding the Spring 2008 Open House on Tuesday, April 1 from 12:00 to 1:30 in Scott Hall, room 105. Please pass the information along to any students, staff, or advisers who would like to learn more about the majors/minor in American Indian Studies, internships, other resources, and to meet students, staff, and faculty. All are welcome! Join us for good company and good food (pizza and soda will be provided).
On Thursday, April 3, from 12:00 to 1:00, the Department of Chicano Studies will be having their Student, Staff, and Faculty Gathering in Room 105 Scott Hall. Students and staff can meet the interim chair of the department, staff, students, and faculty as well as learn about the Minnesota Latino Network in Higher Education, La Raza, Casa Sol, internships, the major and minor, and much more! Please encourage students who may be curious or interested in Chicano Studies to attend. Food and drink will be provided!
