Open House & Rush for Registration

—Stephanie Chrismon, Academic Adviser
Martin Luther King, Jr. Program

This is going to be very short since I’ve just returned from the very awesome ACPA (American College Personnel Association) National Conference in the Metro D.C. area. I got a great opportunity to interact with many student affairs professionals from around the country and attended some pretty inspiring workshops. It was the just the kind of rejuvenation anyone in our field needs, especially when heading up to one of the busiest parts of the semester—registration.

Sue Stirling has been working diligently to help coordinate the annual MLK Open House luncheon which will be held during the CLA Open House on Saturday, April 4, 2009. We have a great array of student panelists and volunteers who will have the opportunity to encourage prospective students of color to attend the University of Minnesota and introduce them to our academic advising community. The MLK staff appreciates how much time and effort Sue has put in on our behalf for this occasion.

Finally, we would like to congratulate Ellen Sunshine, one of four winners of the John Tate Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising! She is definitely deserving of this award as she continues to be a leader not only in our office but throughout CLA and the University!
