Adviser Wins Coveted Award 4/13/06 at 4:15:49 PM
— Stephanie Chrismon, Academic Adviser
As the warm weather brings the stuffiness of our offices to a new high and we break out fans and open the windows wide, the MLK office becomes a bustling den of students rushing to get their probation holds removed, prepping for graduation or choosing their majors!
Amidst all of this organized chaos, Ellen Sunshine received word on Thursday, April 6 that she was nominated and received the coveted Gordon L. Starr Award! Gordon L. Starr was the director of planning for Coffman Memorial Union. He was prominent in developing student scholarships and cultivating student leaders. This award commemorates his lifelong dedication to serving students at the University of Minnesota.
The Minnesota Student Association (MSA) believes this award provides meaningful recognition to faculty and staff, who, like Gordon Starr, recognize the importance of faculty and staff participation in students' educational experience.*
Ellen will be receiving the award during the President's Student Leadership and Service Awards 2006 Banquet on Monday May 1, 2006.
Joann Kunjummen, our peer adviser, placed applications in a variety of graduate programs and law schools around the state. She found herself not only accepted to all of them, including the U of M's own prestigious Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology (CSPP) program; she has decided to accept admission to the William Mitchell law school for the fall 2006 school year! Please congratulate her on her admission!
Do you need something to read at the end of your long workday? Well, check out the MLK program's new Spring newsletter.
Finally, does the MLK program stay on the move? Of course! Come check out our newly reorganized office!
