New Associate Editor Joins CLASS
7/6/06 at 4:48:32 PM

CLASS welcomes our new associate editor, Micah Moran, who will join our ranks on Monday, July 10. Micah takes the place of Melissa (of happy memory). He's already familiar with CLASS, and many of you individually, having worked here as an Adecco temp since May.

In his own words:

I'd just like to say that I'm delighted to be here in CLA Student Services. I'm excited to get to know each of you and have the opportunity to work together. Please stop me and introduce yourself when you see me around!

I'm a relatively recent Minnesota transplant. I've survived a winter and a half (though I understand they were mild by Minnesota standards), so I think it's safe to say that I can make it here. I lived in Missouri my entire life prior to moving here – growing up in Springfield then on to Columbia where I graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and also worked. I'm a bit of a news junky and can't start the day without reading through the paper(s).

When not at work, chances are I'm out on my bicycle. Cycling has been my life-long passion/obsession. I started riding and racing mountain bikes as a youth before focusing more seriously on road cycling. I spent a year after college trying to race as a career and traveling the country, but now I stick to competing locally with occasional weekend travels.

My other interests include cross-country skiing, cooking, exploring the city around me, studying design and typography, admiring my new espresso machine, and, unfortunately, following the Kansas City Royals.

This summer has been a busy one. In addition to coming to CLASS, I recently got married. My wife, who I met while at the University of Missouri, is a reporter. She is originally from the Twin Cities and does a good job reminding me just how much I like it here. I've been majorly conflicted lately, as I know that I should be getting our wedding thank-you cards in the mail, but the three greatest sporting events in my mind – the World Cup, Wimbledon, and the Tour – are happening simultaneously and demand most of my attention.
