The Great Migration
7/25/08 at 10:14:51 AM

—Rebecca Rassier, Community Coordinator
Individualized Degree Programs

As for many of you, the past few weeks have been about deletion. As much as it has been a pain, I think most of us would agree that being forced to clean house due to the migration is a good thing. I'm not much of a saver (my office attests to this) but when it comes to electronic files, the clutter is less obvious (except to Sean) and so things do pile up. I remember that last summer I was going to clean my electronic house but it never happened. And so now it must.

Going through my sent messages from the last three and half years has been a trip down memory lane. Ha ha, remember that link or joke? Remember that student crisis that involved 15 messages within a week? Whatever happened to person X, Y, and Z? Good times, good times.

I've also put my critical and analytical liberal arts skills to renaming folders that accurately reflect my work topics so that I can un-nest them. Again, something I had been meaning to do for a while, but the great migration made that ideal a reality.

Along the way, I have also thrown out some good old fashioned paper and I cleaned up the documents in our IDP folders, including changing our email addresses on our handouts. The documents will need to be changed on the web, as well, but that's still an ideal at the moment.

On the human interaction front, Kathryn has been busy helping out CommMedia in OR and I have been helping out with parent OR, Welcome Week, and reviewing applications for the CLA internship grant. And we have both been seeing the IDP students who find their way to our office during the summer.

Happy deletions!
