Description Students may be awarded college credit for their knowledge in certain academic areas by taking standardized advanced placement exams. Advanced Placement (AP) exams are graded on a 5-point scale. With a score of 3 or higher in any given exam (depending on the field) the University may grant students 3-8 semester credits at the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities. For credit to be reflected on the student’s transcript, the Office of Admissions must receive the scores sent directly from the College Entrance Examinations Board (CEEB) or the student’s original copy of the score report.
Specific credit and/or exemptions awarded for various scores on the AP exams are detailed below. Scores lower than those listed here carry no credit or exemption award. More information can be found at on the Office of Admissions web site.
